Now, more than ever, we must stand united as allies. With acts of solidarity and connection we can create ripples that spread outward, setting change in motion. In a world that is becoming increasingly unstable and uncertain, many of us struggle to find balance as we try to understand where we stand, and at times feeling overwhelmed by fear, concern, anger, and a deep sense of injustice. For those on the margins, their struggle is even more challenging, as societal structures fail to offer proper protection. In the face of the unknown, simply coming together, online or in person, is both an act of resilience and a quiet rebellion.<\/p>\n\n\n

We could turn to our ancestors for wisdom, even though many of them never faced the exact challenges we do today\u2014whether it be the ecological crisis, or the pressure on hard-won freedoms. Yet, they knew hardship, resilience, and perseverance. Their knowledge and life lessons can still support us as we navigate an uncertain world. We can seek their guidance in finding the strength within ourselves\u2014to continue choosing peace, tolerance, curiosity, sustainability, empathy, patience, and kindness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ancestral spirits point us to the strengths of community, to the importance of togetherness and protection in times of crisis. In the old days, settlements were often surrounded by a hedge, a natural barrier of dense vegetation. Such an enclosure can be seen as a symbol of how a community collectively guards its safety and survival. Let us embody that same protective power and connection today. Not a hedge of branches, but a spiritual shield wall. With all our unique shields, we show strength and demonstrate our determination to support each other.

We stand on the shoulders of our ancestors and shoulder to shoulder with each other,<\/em>
not just for ourselves, but also for those who find greater challenges in their path.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the Flame of Frith Shieldwall initiative we aim to raise a spiritual shieldwall in the frithgarth between the worlds, with gods and spirits and ancestors by our side. All shields together will show our fighting spirit. Each one, on their standards, always ready to be used. A warning that we will stand together in defiance and in defence of one another<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Get creative<\/strong> \u2013 paint, weave, sketch, knit, decorate, embroider, forge, write or crochet a shield that represents your spirit and connection to our vibrant community. Each unique creation is a powerful expression of frith and allyship. Word shields are also warmly welcomed if you can express yourself better in words \u2013 be it a poem, a short story, or a song.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you need a shield, take one. Whether to shelter behind for a moment or to raise to fight, it will be there when you call upon it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Together, we can build a future where everyone is valued, where diversity is celebrated, and where inclusivity and solidarity are our guiding force.<\/p>\n\n\n
